JUNE 20, 2009, DELHI – for Mr. Kanebel’s writings and more, see www.freeofstate.org YESTERDAY IN DELHI, FORMER USA RESIDENT, JEFF KNAEBEL RENOUNCED HIS CITIZENSHIP AT THE MAHATMA GANDHI NATIONAL MONUMENT IN A DEMONSTRATION OF NON-VIOLENT RESISTANCE. SHREDDING HIS US PASSPORT AND PLACING THE PIECES UPON THE MONUMENT, KNAEBEL DECLARED HIS INDEPENDENCE FROM NOT ONLY THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT, BUT ALL GOVERNMENTS, RENOUNCING HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE AS WELL, STATING THAT CITIZENSHIP MUST EITHER BE VOLUNTARY, OR BE CONSIDERED FORCED SLAVERY. WITHIN MINUTES, GUARDS ATTEMPTED TO PERSUADE HIM TO LEAVE THE CENTRAL PORTION OF THE MONUMENT, BUT HIS REFUSAL FORCED THEM TO PHYSICALLY CARRY HIM TO THE OUTER WALKWAY, WHERE THEY ALLOWED HIM TO CONTINUE DELIVERING HIS DECLARATION. LOCAL POLICE ESCORTED KNAEBEL TO THE STREET, WHERE THEY SPOKE TO HIM FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR. THEY SEEMED SYMPATHETIC, AND REFUSED TO ARREST THE MAN, DIRECTING HIM TO TURN HIMSELF IN AT THE LOCAL SUBSTATION, WHERE HE WAS ALSO REFUSED ARREST. THIS MORNING, KNAEBEL ENTERED THE POLICE STATION AGAIN, INFORMING THE SUB-INSPECTOR THAT HE HAD BEEN PROMISED BY A SUPERIOR THAT HE WAS, QUOTE, A FREE MAN, ABLE TO MOVE ABOUT INDIA WITHOUT PAPERS, UNQUOTE, AND REQUESTED A LETTER STATING AS MUCH. THE SUB-INSPECTOR, IN DISAGREEMENT WITH THE ACTION, STATED THAT ALTHOUGH THIS WAS NOW TRUE, THEY WOULD NOT PUT IT IN WRITING, AND THAT THE MATTER WAS OF NO CONCERN TO THE POLICE, STATING THAT IF THE MAN NEEDED HELP, ALL HE SHOULD DO IS DIAL

HAHA what a moron. Having lived almost 5 years in India, that is the last place you want to be stateless. Nothing but corrupt police demanding brices for everything. He will be at the police station atleast once a month to bribe police to not deport him.

If he ever needs a medic he will need bribe money, ofcourse all he will get is 5 medics high on opium(yeah 5, not 2)

He is Western so he will pay more for everything, not Indian prices. He is screwed.

  2. P0ttedMeat Said,

@JDB You may not wish to admit it but free will overrides the constraints of any society. There may be consequences to being non-compliant but the choice is there.

Human beings aren’t magically placed into a system at birth any more than any animal born in the wilderness.

  3. JDB7484 Said,

@P0ttedMeat Consent is completely irrelevant as to being natural person subject to the jurisdiction of the state. It is also irrelevant as to the question of acquisition of citizenship at the moment of birth.

  4. P0ttedMeat Said,

Is “real” freedom the freedom to consume excessively in spite of the consequences? Do you know what would happen to this planet if all of the people chose this “real” freedom such as is found here in the U.S? The planet would die and quickly.

  5. P0ttedMeat Said,

A new living being doesn’t by default consent to anything. A person is always free to exercise their God given rights though they may find themselves in the position to have to fight to do so or to defend themselves from those who wish to stop them.

  6. JDB7484 Said,

@iwantit162: That’s a nice belief, but it’s sadly not true in England or the US. The facts of birth have legal consequences that automatically apply before registration of birth. A birth certificate merely provides evidence of the facts of birth. Not having a birth certificate would not eliminate legal rights and responsibilities, though it could make exercise of legal rights practically difficult. “Rencouncing” it has no effect.

  7. Jcolinsol Said,

He’s absolutely right. It is only humane and reasonable that governments should be based on voluntary association.

you guys know thiers a tracking gps device on the passports now U.S

  9. girlwithmouth Said,

Yes but this life does not suit everyone…sorry I still want a nice home and a reliable car and that is why this wont ever work because not everyone wants to be a roaming hippy living in a tent….try to find a way to incorporate real freedom of choice into this and you will have a lot more “joiners”.

  10. davemcclave Said,

He gave up all security in favor of liberty. he feels nothing is owed to him, and he now does nothing but give to his community. He gave up a few million dollars to charity, and lives without support, but offers his experience as an engineer and knowledge to the community where he lives.

  11. davemcclave Said,

He actually DID refuse anything from our government. He collects NOTHING from anyone, and gave away ALL of his money.

  12. davemcclave Said,

His whole assertion is that consumerism and government are eveil by nature, and non-valid to begin with. He says, “what man has authority to determine my validity as a human? No man has that authority.” I’m not an anarchist, but I tend to agree.

  13. davemcclave Said,

There’s no way he will ever want to return to this society. Ever. I visited him in the Himalayas where he is living now, and he is living the life he wants to, and teaching others through his websites to do the same. He’s an Anarchist and believes no good can come from government.

  14. davemcclave Said,

He was not arrested, and he believes that following the government system of renouncing citizenship goes against what he believes about government being non-valid to begin with.

  15. Jewchai Said,

1)Destroying your passport does not mean that you are no longer a U.S. citizen. In order to renounce his citizenship he would have to go to the local embassy/consulate.
    2) Why was he arrested?

  16. leafwatch Said,

If you have better, more effective ways then by all means show people, as Knaelbel is doing; he doesn’t just talk the talk but walks the walk with Gandhi.
There’s no one right way, all paths are good if they are leading toward peace and freedom. And peaceful, free people will creative many paths. I wish I shared your conviction that 6th graders know the truth. I think controlled media and government schools a teach obedience and lies, that’s why dishonest incompetents keep getting elected.

  17. girlwithmouth Said,

you think I don’t know that …a 6 th grader knows this …what I also know is that this is doing NOTHING you have to fight these people with their own weapons , metaphorically speaking of course….this fool walking around with no passport is doing nothing…..you need a reality check , different tactics need to be taken .

  18. leafwatch Said,

You embarrass yourself with public ignorance, girlwithmouth. Knaebel took honest responsibility to renounce his alliance with the US War Empire. He courageously refuses to obey laws of war criminals and a State that lies to its citizens and robs them for its own gain. Those benefits you’re so fond of are the remnants of what once was a prosperous nation with relatively free citizens. Now we live in a police state at home for the profit of the Elite and bomb other countries for more power.

  19. girlwithmouth Said,

My goodness this fool is American too!!! GO ahed be free ! but cant get back to our side when you want to rejoin SOCIETY AND REAP THE BENEFITS!!!! dumbass!
